About

apt49c began as an apartment that occasionally became a gallery.

What started in a New York living room has grown into an artist-run project creating exhibitions, meals, screenings, workshops and gatherings in apartments and other unexpected spaces.

We believe some of the most meaningful encounters with art happen outside traditional institutions, in places where people feel comfortable staying, talking and returning.

Today, apt49c works across Geneva and beyond, collaborating with artists, hosts and local communities to create temporary spaces for contemporary culture.

Origin Story

In 2024, apt49c opened inside a New York apartment.

Friends invited friends. Artists transformed domestic rooms into temporary exhibitions.

Rather than becoming a permanent gallery, the apartment became a space that continually changes with each artist, exhibition, and gathering.
